The Man Booker International prize this year has gone to a woman famous for her short stories – and when we say short, we do mean short. Some of Lydia Davis's tales are just a paragraph. The chair of the prize, Christopher Ricks, wondered what to call such brief works, but Davis says she would like them to remain known as stories.
