Whatever your opinion of Peter Mandelson, he is bound to know a thing or two that has gone on behind the scenes in Labour's camp. From "that conversation" supposedly had in an Islington restaurant, to the negotiations between the political parties that mesmerised the country in May, his revealing of insider knowledge is already sparking controversy and debate.

His new book, The Third Man: Life at the heart of New Labour, is released today. Containing a mixture of autobiography, personal reflection and political history, The Third Man draws heavily on detailed diary notes that Peter Mandelson took during the events, discussions and meetings that shaped the government and the Labour Party over 25 years. Much of the book is devoted to the defining political relationships of Peter Mandelson's life with Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Charting what he terms the "soap opera" years of the Labour government, his book has already ruffled many feathers.

With the summer holidays upon us this could make a great beach read, however at a whopping £25 it could burn a hole in your pocket: almost as much as 15kg of luggage with Ryanair. Lighten the load and get the book for less than half price – though with a shipping weight of 2.2lbs you may need to consider excess baggage.

If any readers have found the book cheaper elsewhere, please post the details below:
