Lottie's life has become a mess after the death of her father. Her mum has made their warm and comforting house a dumping ground, with all sorts of rubbish from the charity shop. Now, all she ever does is sit in her room and watch TV.

Lottie has broken away from all her friends, and her grades are slipping. Bake Club is the only place where Lottie feels at home and here she is able to relive some memories of baking with her father. On the other hand, she is soon competing in competitions and baking for apprenticeships for a chance to bake in Paris.

Lottie and her friend Mac have both developed into very talented young bakers, but who of them will win the apprenticeship to get a chance to spend a month baking in Paris?

I found this book absorbing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! What I really liked about this book was that at the beginning of each chapter, there was a Bake Club recipe to get started with, and guess what? I tried the recipe for a classic Victorian Sandwich and the final product tasted absolutely delicious!!

I admired the way Ms. Cannon described a few scenes in this gripping book:

"Home is a kitchen. Long clear work surfaces of stainless steel or gleaming wood. Tiny bowls of weighed ingredients, laid out ready for me to mix and fold, stir and create. A shiny silver mixer and cookie cutters in every shape you can imagine."

I really think that all of you readers should read this book, and believe me, you will love it! I would rate this book a 9/10!
