Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan – review

ellathebookworm: 'This book was so interesting, mostly due to the fact that it was set in the future and was as creative as you could get.'

Alright, I've actually already started (and nearly finished) the second book, because I liked it so much. But before I can say any more, I've got to tell you what it's about...

The Empyrean. A ship flying to New Earth. A space ship. Aboard are two teenagers, Kieran and Waverly, who are in love. They've never met anyone apart from the others aboard their ship. Then suddenly there's an attack...

It turned out that there was another ship in space- the New Horizon, and their invasion ended up with most adults dead, all the girls kidnapped and the boys left to fend for themselves. The girls are operated on- against their will- in a desperate attempt to ensure that the crew of the New Horizon are able to carry and give birth to babies, something which was impossible before due to a mysterious sabotage and a suspicious captain of the Empyrean. But can the girls go home? And will the surviving adults be rescued?

This book was so interesting, mostly due to the fact that it was set in the future and was as creative as you could get. Amy Kathleen Ryan had obviously done a lot of research, for the ship was packed full of technical rooms and equipment!
