Joey Field is a very interesting teenager who always seems to be there just at the right time (and people believe he has psychic powers).
Knowing Joey Field is written from two points of view: Matt (an older brother) and Stephie (his younger sister). They have just moved to Moody Bay, yet another new home after lots of moving because of their Dad's job. Here Matt makes a strange new friend, who many think has 'the gift' of seeing things. Matt finds that having a friend like Joey can be very frustrating, but can also have a positive side. Stephie makes a friend, but finds herself a subject of blackmail and bullying. Will things turn out all right or will this be the way it is? Forever? Every two pages, it changes from Matt's view to Stephie's. This makes the book more interesting, giving the sense that these characters are speaking to you, each telling a different story. I liked this book very much, though I do believe it is a bit grown-up for people my age (9) and can be quite inappropriate at times, using strong language and references to teenage relationships. I still enjoyed this book, as I am quite a mature reader, so the grown-up sections didn't put me off the rest of the story. I rate this book 7⅔ out of 10, and recommend it to readers 11+ who like books about interesting characters, relationships and themes such as bullying and settling into a new home.
