The Fairytale Hairdresser and Cinderella by Abie Longstaff – review

Jennifer, Minnie and Bebe: 'I thought it was a bit dull. Despite the amount of glitter on it.'

This book's heart is in the right place, but I am not a fan of pink, girly, glittery-ness.

Despite the fact that Minnie has an obsession with day-glo pink and anything with Hello Kitty on it, I am trying my best to steer her away from too much trash like this: it's really a badly butchered tale of Cinderella, fashioned up to be new and within "our time", which is a bit naff.

Cinderella gets a job helping out in the local fairytale hair salon, where she works as the slave tea girl who does all the hard graft for little more than a pound an hour! Oh wait that was my Saturday job... Cinders actually seems to enjoy the work experience; she still gets to go to the ball and falls in love with a Justin Bieber-a-like prince

Urgh I hated it; the story didn't really flow and to be fair it didn't hold the toddler's attention at all. The illustrations remind me of all these Bratz style dolls.

It's not one I can recommend, I thought it was a bit dull. Despite the amount of glitter on it.
