The Midnight Palace by Carlos Ruiz Zafon – review

This was definitely hard to get into. I picked it up multiple times before putting it down again, but once I had, it was a fascinating story, especially as it was set in another country, whereas most fiction I've read is set either in England and America.

All the characters had depth and were interesting and I liked the way that there was an unexpected fantasy element added at the end, which made the story more interesting and unpredictable.

The storyline was interesting and fast-paced with twists at every chapter and unexpected stories. I liked the way the story of why the twins were rescued was told multiple times, each time changing, so that you weren't sure what was true until the very end.

I loved Carlos Ruiz Zafon's writing style and will definitely be reading other books by him soon!
