Can you imagine a world where monsters and humans live together? And where some monsters protect people? Then welcome to the world of Fangs Vampire Spy!
As you may have guessed already, Fangs is a vampire, but also a spy! Together with his partner Puppy Brown, who is a werewolf, they protect human beings from evil monsters who want to destroy them.
This is the first book in the series and Fangs's mission is to stop the Great Disgusto from holding the world to ransom by using his rocket powered farts – which he lets rip from his golden bum!!
Sounds mad? It is!
The story is like a James Bond spoof, and Fangs the secret agent in love with himself and his sunglasses. He thinks he is really cool but actually he isn't cool at all and Puppy usually has to get him out of trouble.
It's a very amusing book, a silly comedy with lots of puns and corny jokes. There are fun illustrations which help you understand the story and some puzzles for you to do at the end of the book.
What I found weird at the start of the story was that Fangs could survive in the sunlight and that the Great Disgusto actually had a golden bottom. But all is revealed later on.
There are strange characters throughout who keep the laughs coming in – from the rapping gnome to the scientist with a square head called Cube!
This book was easy to read and would appeal to 7-year-olds and up. It wasn't amazing but I would probably read the next one in the series.
