The Lux series is one that I've heard many things about. I've had the first three books sitting on my bookcase feeling sorry for themselves for a few months now, awaiting me to read them. Needless to say, I was hesitant about starting them. Two weeks later and the three books devoured before my very eyes, I'm not sure what the worry was about.
Opal is the third book in the Lux series which follows 18 year old Kat as she adjusts to life with an alien boyfriend. Now, I know what you're thinking and yep, aliens aren't always my cup of tea either but Armentrout has managed to achieve the perfect balance between 'this is ridiculously stupid, why am I reading this' and 'GIVE ME THE BOOKS'. As this is the third book, I can't give too much away but if you are into super hot aliens and a little (OK, a lot) of paranormal mysteries then this book is for you!
I was about to compare this book to Twilight because, to be honest, the easy to read writing style and 'move into a small town and fall in love with a bunch of aliens' does sound pretty similar but I'm sure most of you will immediately the assume the worse but fear not! This book and this series is extremely enjoyable and comes with a whole whirlwind of emotions. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe until your face turns red and your stomach feels bubbly and, most of all, you'll want more and more and more. As somebody who often rules out alien books with the fears of it being too 'Star Trecky' I can assure you that this book is not one to miss out.
The only thing I'll say is that it might not be best for younger readers as the term 'romance' is definitely not used lightly but hey, we all want a little hot, shape shifting aliens in our lives. Don't we?
