You know when you have a good book, and when you have an incredible book. A good book will make you like the characters, and intrigue you so much, you have to carry on reading. A great book will wrench your heart out and force you to carry on reading, because you can't put the book down. This book was an incredible book.
Hate is sadly based on a true story of a girl. It touches you, and makes you think, 'This isn't right but why does it happen?' There isn't an answer to this, it's not meant to happen. You shouldn't judge someone before you truly know them, and this is a major theme in this touching and brilliant book.
It will bring tears to your eyes and teach you valuable lessons. Every person will take a different meaning from this book, but no meaning is more important than another.
This book is one I would recommend to people about 13 years old and above, as the content is for mature readers. Also, it is not a book you should read at night under the covers because you will be caught out by your parents as you laugh, or cry, when you turn over each page and follow Eve through the travesty of her sister's death, a death which is all the more meaningful, because she was different and dared to be different.
Overall this book is extraordinary! Alan Gibbons deserves a pat on the back for the incredible read this provides me and many others with.
