One Safe Place is about a boy called Devin who had lived on a farm for all his life. After his grandpa dies, Devin finds all the work is too much for one person, so he goes to the city to find help. He makes a friend, Kit, who looks after him when he is robbed.

After a night of rain he meets a strange man who offers to take him to a place where there is everything a child could ever want, no food or water shortages. It's the Gabriel H. Penn Home For Childhood.

Upon arriving, Devin starts seeing strange things happening to the children after they get the dreaded message. No one can escape so their only hope is to be adopted. Devin starts to find out the truth about the Gabriel H. Penn Home For Childhood and he wants to find a way out.

This book is very good once you get into it. The first few chapters may seem boring but as you read on, it gets better and better until it's hard to put down.

I would give this book 4.5 stars out of 5, because it was very good but it could have had a better beginning.
