This is the story of Halley Brandon and Avalon Greene who are neighbours and best friends. Normally, they spend their summer holidays together, but this year, Halley must go away for two months on an art course.
When Halley gets back from her course, she's really excited to see her best friend again. She runs straight into the garden, jumps over the garden gate and rushes up to Avalon who's sunbathing. When Avalon sees Halley, she leaps out of her deckchair and gives her a hug.
In honour of their friendship, Avalon suggests that they have a party. She says, "We have been besties now for a while and I think we should celebrate it! What do you think, Halley?" Halley doesn't know what to say because she's not sure it's a good enough reason to have a party, but she accepts anyway and Avalon is delighted.
The next day, Halley and Avalon go off to school together and that's when the trouble begins...
I really enjoyed this book because it's all about relationships and how misunderstandings or jealousy of new friends can ruin a wonderful friendship. I think that really "girly" girls will love this book, but I recommend it to everyone!
