The Brilliant World of Tom Gates by Liz Pichon

Wolfie: 'Very enjoyable and funny. It is perfect for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid'

The Brilliant World of Tom Gates is about Tom Gates. A boy who is more focused on doodling and biscuits than his school work. His life is full of beady eyed teachers like Mr Fullerman, the annoying Marcus Meldrew and grumpy sisters like Delia.

Tom and his best friend Derek are in a band called Dog Zombies (remember the name, they'll be famous someday) and when Tom buys a copy of Rock Weekly, instead of buying milk, he realises that his favourite band, Dude3, are going to play a concert in his town.

But there's bad news too: Tom and Derek are too young to go to the concert on their own, and the tickets are very expensive. Will Tom and Derek get to go to the concert?

I'd say this book is for 7-12 year olds. It is very enjoyable and funny. It is perfect for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Big Nate.
