Number The Stars by Lois Lowry – review

dip2000: 'This book is about bravery; how you know that there is danger, but you still do what you think is right'

This book is about a girl called Annemarie. She lives in Denmark with her mother father and sister. Her best friend is another girl called Ellen. When the two of them run down the street and are stopped by German soldiers, their troubles begin.

I might add, this book is set in 1942, when the Nazis have just invaded Denmark. Since Ellen and her family are Jewish, they have to get away from Denmark. This book is also about bravery; how you know that there is danger, but you still do what you think is right.

I love this book because of the vivid descriptions of the characters and the city of Copenhagen. It makes everything seem absolutely real. I would recommend this book to both boys and girls of about 10 years of age.

The only thing I do not like about this book is that the plot is rather slow, it is like a short story being elongated without changing the plot. Overall, I rather like the book.
