Tall Story by Candy Gourlay – review

lilybelle: 'What this book tells you is that there is no such thing as too tall or too small'

On one side of the world lives Bernardo, an eight foot tall teenager who had to stay in the Philippines when his dad died and his mum remarried in England. On the other side of the world is Amandolina, Bernardo's half-sister, who loves basketball.

This book is all about Amandolina and Bernardo's different lives. Living on an island that's threatened by earthquakes and where people are very superstitious isn't very easy for Bernardo "the giant", but for Amandolina, moving house, making new friends and trying to get into the school's basketball team isn't easy either, especially since she's very small.

What this book tells you is that there is no such thing as too tall or too small.

I'm eight and I think it was all a bit to complicated for me. It also left unanswered questions at the end, but apart from all that, I enjoyed the story.
