I made some reading resolutions for 2011:
1. I will read at least 50 books in 2011
2. I will keep track of every book I read and rate it out of five
3. All books read and recorded must be at least 100 pages to be recorded as one of the 50
4. At least five of these must be non-fiction and two poetry
5. I will review at least 15 of these starting with Monsters of Men

I plan to read at least 10 books in 2011! Authors on my reading list include: Terry Pratchett, Derek Landy, Michael Morpurgo, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, JK Rowling and Sir Winston Churchill. I am planning to read a mixture of fiction and non-fiction books I may also read some books on science as well.

In 2011 there are many books I am looking forward to reading starting with Forever, the final instalment of the Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvater, which should be released in July. So far I have loved this series. At first I thought it might be something else that had jumped on the vampire/werewolf bandwagon but this was something different. The first two books, Shiver and Linger, portrayed a really compelling and touching story. They tell the story of Sam and Grace who are very much in love but tragic events, that are out of their control, keep tearing them apart. This is a chilling romance and the final book promises to be something really worth reading.
Also the next instalment in the Infernal Devices trilogy will be released later in the year. The first book in the trilogy was Clockwork Angel, which was about the Shadowhunters of London and Tessa, a hunted shapeshifter, who seeks refuge among them. The settings in the book were gorgeous, as were the characters, who were so real I fell in love with them all. The story moved at a mile a minute so I am itching to see what happens in the second instalment, Clockwork Princess.

I always set myself reading resolutions – I find that having my reading partly planned at the beginning of the year really helpful as I know when some of my favourite authors' next books are coming out and who I'm going to be reading all over again.
I tend to read about four books a month if I'm going slow, so I've set myself a challenge that by the end of 2011 I will have read 50 new books. I'm well on my way to reaching my target! I love reading a lot as it's something that can grab my attentionmore than any film or television programme I've seen yet.
Gregory Maguire is an author who, year on year, I've read over and over again. I own most of his books as I find his take on traditional fairytales or stories to be a much more realistic, if significantly darker, version of the events. I know without a doubt that Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West will get at least one read this year, and if I'm in the right mood it'll be read again. It's gripping, has a lot of plot twists and really changes your view on the Land of Oz –I'll never be able to watch the Wizard of Oz in the same way again!
