D'Artagnan

Crow: From the Life and Songs of the Crow by Ted Hughes – review

D'Artagnan: 'It is beautifully written, scary but funny at the same time'

Crow is a collection of poems based around the crow. The nature poems such as Crowcolour, Crow Goes Hunting and Owl's Song are stark, dark, ferocious and sometimes brutal but definitely impressive. From Crowcolour, for example:

Crow was so much blacker
Than the moon's shadow
He had stars.

The collection is beautifully written, scary but funny at the same time, just like the cover illustration. It is also deeply philosophical about the world. I would recommend it if you like scary poems about nature.
